Description
 
The Stinger™ FS chassis is the largest model in the carrier-class Stinger digital subscriber line (DSL) access concentrator product family. A force-air-cooled interior houses a variety of easily removable, tightly integrated modules. A single Stinger FS supports up to 672 ports, and additional Stinger chassis can be subtended to support thousands of subscribers in a single central office rack.

ATM-Based Switching and QoS Support


  • Manages all traffic per ATM Forum Traffic Management 4.0 specifications

  • Supports multiple QoS levels making it possible to offer end users a diverse range of service level agreements (SLAs); premiums can be charged for the guaranteed levels of data rate and performance needed for demanding applications such as telephony, video-on-demand, and broadcast entertainment
Copper Loop Qualification and Testing
Eliminates truck rolls by providing support for integrated internal copper loop testing—integrates with Loopcare and NavisAccess management.

End-to-End Provisioning
Offers DSL circuit configuration and turn up from the customer premises equipment (CPE) to the core of the network with Navis™ Provisioning Manager.

  • Supports expandable configuration with modular architecture

  • Provides flexible configuration options to support a mixture of interfaces and DSL types

  • Accommodates all types of data and real-time traffic, such as voice and video, with its ATM infrastructure

Provides Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based configuration, monitoring, and control of all network elements via NavisAccess™.

Wired for DSL program tests and certifies interoperability with third-party DSL equipment, such as CPE and voice gateways, for greater flexibility and design options.

Redundancy and Automatic Fail-Over


  • Redundant control modules and trunk ports (1:1)
